Bexley was founded as a village in 1908. Today, this Central Ohio city is a sublime historic, tree-lined suburb on the east side of Columbus, near Alum Creek, Driving Park and Wolfe Park; it’s also just east of the famous Franklin Park Conservatory. Bexley is probably most widely known for its large historic homes and historic estates, many of which are located in Bullitt Park. The city is also the home of the president of The Ohio State University and the State of Ohio’s Governor’s Mansion, which is located in the northern section of the city. Bexley is also the home to Capital University. The city has a population of around 14,000. In addition to a variety of bike trails and walking trails, Bexley also has the unique status of being a “green community.” The city is also considered a “Tree City USA.” Bexley has a mature canopy and an active Tree Commission and Arboretum. It is the first city in the world to be designated officially as an arboretum. The city has more than 100 unique species of trees in addition to a wide assortment of local shopping.
