The town has an elevation of 1,069 feet and is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 40 and State Route 310, in Etna Township, which is the southwestern part of Licking County. U.S. 40 is said to form the northern edge of Etna. Interstate 70 is located along the southern edge. Etna has a total surface area of 0.7 square miles with about 0.04 square miles of water. Etna’s surface area drains into the southern fork of the Licking River, which is an east-flowing tributary of the Muskingum River and part of the Ohio River watershed. Etna is also said to be a conservative area. The community has an exceptionally low crime rate.
