Why We Love Groveport, Ohio
Groveport has a population of 5,630. The city is a suburb of Columbus with a total land area of around 9 square miles. Groveport is the native home of the famous historic horse expert, John Solomon Rarey; Rarey earned acclaim during the 19th-century for developing the famous “Rarey Technique” for rehabbing horses. In 1846, Groveport was a single entity. At the time, the rivaling towns Wert’s Grove and Rareysport ended their rivalry. They merged together into a single town. Starting in 1847, a post office with the name Groveport has been in operation in the city. Groveport is also home of the historic Groveport Log House, which was built back in 1815. In 1974, that log house was moved to its current location closer to the Groveport Cemetery. Due to the city’s close proximity to the Rickenbacker International Airport and the Air National Guard Base, several large corporations have made their headquarters or a significant portion of their operations in Groveport, which has helped to stimulate the local economy there.
